Global Humanitarian Aid (GHA) is a Canadian non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to providing life-saving relief assistance and long-term support to people and communities affected by natural disasters all around the world without discrimination as to nationality, race, gender, religion, class or political opinions. We promote humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, health and community care .We help people build the healthy environments they need to thrive and empower them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.

GHA has the vision to be the premier disaster preparedness and response assistance organization providing the highest quality support to those in need in the world.

We are a non-profit organization working as a first-hand response to disaster-affected people around the globe. Our reach includes rescue, relief, and humanitarian assistance to protect the people, their environment, and the economy and ensure disaster-resilient communities.



  • - To Provide humanitarian aid and support to the people and communities affected by conflicts and natural disasters all around the world.
  • - Providing disaster-related education, training, research, and management activities for the community.
  • - To Enhance the local community’s capacity for disaster preparedness, timely rescue, response, recovery including emergency Water and Sanitary Hygiene (WASH) services.
  • - To help in Inventing, testing, and promoting innovative technologies, practices, and approaches in disaster management.
  • - To support governmental, non-governmental, and partner agencies for disaster risk assessment: disaster mapping and vulnerability analysis with geospatial technology including a place-based model for understanding community resilience to disaster response.
  • - To strengthen the disaster response governance at all levels from local to national and international.
  • - To train, educate and mobilize local youths for disaster, pandemic and humanitarian support.
  • - To provide medical care and psychosocial support to the disaster and/or pandemic-affected people.
  • - To help to increase the income-earning opportunities among poor and marginalized communities.

What We Do

Where we work ?   GHA works in different parts of the world, mainly in Asia, Africa, and The Middle East.

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE

    The emergency response includes immediate humanitarian assistance for disaster-affected areas, focused on protecting and saving lives. Our goal of an emergency response is to mitigate the impact of the event on people and the environment and to normalize the condition.

  • Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS)

    GHA is committed to providing mental health and psycho-social support to the disaster affected people, including psychological first aid These programs will be directed through social workers, mental health clinicians, and outreach staff from the most affected areas.

  • Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

    GHA will work to reduce the possible impacts of disasters involving communities and local stakeholders.

  • Policy and Advocacy

    We inform policy making at global, national and local levels so that decisions are made for the benefit of marginalized communities to provide human rights and fight against inequality.

  • Youth Mobilization

    GHA will mobilize youth leaders, youth community activists, and youth volunteers in various areas of emergency response, relief and recovery, first aid, psycho-social support, and fundraising activities.

  • Volunteering

    GHA is supported by thousands of volunteers who are a core part of our team. Our volunteer opportunities range from event organization to campaigning and fundraising to workshop-type education.

  • Sustainable Livelihood

    GHA will support sustainable livelihood programs that build on and promote peoples’ strengths, skills, and assists. The programs will ensure human rights for communities that live around the globe.

    All our work will support to governments and local organizations to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) as per our mission.

Our Team

Mr. Kamal Subedi

Board of Director

Mr. Subedi has over 15 years of experience in National and International development programs. He is a Founder President of the National Federation of Youth NGOs Nepal and Good Governance Protection Forum. He has gained a deep knowledge of Nepal’s youth development issues and opportunities in the field of employment, social development, local governance, disaster risk reduction, sustainable livelihoods, human rights, Gender, Equity, and Social Inclusion (GESI). Mr. Subedi earned a Master’s of Political Science from the Tribhuvan University of Nepal. He obtained a Diploma in Development Leadership from St.Francis Xavier University of Canada. He has worked with the Japan International Support Program and many International organizations and actively participates in various international development and humanitarian programs. Mr. Subedi is an advocate for human rights and social justice in national and international platforms.

Mr. Khagendra Kandel

Board of Director

Mr. Kandel is a Civil/Geotechnical engineer and has over eight years of experience in development and humanitarian work. Mr. Kandel earned a Master’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Toledo, USA. Mr. Kandel has experience as a civil engineer with Epsom Engineering Consultancy in a small hydropower survey and design project. He was an assistant lecturer at Kathmandu Engineering College, Kathford College of Information and Technology, and Kathmandu College of Science of Technology. He worked as a staff geotechnical engineer with Faulkner Engineering Services, Tampa, Florida, USA, and is currently a geotechnical Engineer at GeoTerre Limited, Toronto, Canada. Mr. Kandel was able to use this engineering expertise advising during reconstruction and rehabilitation during Nepal Earthquake-2015.

Dr. Smita Dhakal

Ms. Dhakal is a Dental Surgeon registered with Nepal Medical Council, has more than 6 years of experience in International health care management. Dr. Dhakal is the Founder of Smile for Life, an NGO that works for Health promotion in Nepal. Dr. Dhakal has conducted several health camps in different parts of Nepal. She has worked as a Dental Surgeon and Public health coordinator in the Department of Community and Public Health Dentistry at Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital And Research Center. Dr. Dhakal has experience in clinical dentistry, public health, and health care management. She also worked as Lecturer for Dental hygienists at Kantipur Dental College. Currently, she is working as a Health care intake coordinator at Paramed Care which specializes in home healthcare in Ontario, Canada. She is a 2021 Masters of Public Health Candidate at the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Ms. Shanta Karki Ranabhat

Board of Director

Ms. Karki is a dedicated registered nurse (RN) with Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) since 2014. She graduated with BSc Nursing in 2014 from Pokhara University, Nepal. She worked as a BSc Nursing program coordinator at Everest College of Nursing, Purbanchal University, Nepal from 2014 to 2016. She is a candidate with a stellar academic background in healthcare and leadership. She is motivated to use her interpersonal skills and other capabilities for the wellbeing of the people, patients, and a community providing the highest quality of care, respect, excellence, and an innovation. Ms. Karki has an Ontario Graduate Certificate degree in Advanced Health Care and Leadership from Lambton College, Canada (2018). Currently, she is pursuing BScN Post-RN for Internationally Educated Nurses at York University, Canada.
